Fishing Tackle For The Casual Boater

Fishing tackle can really get up in the big bucks but, for the casual boater who may be more interested in just tossing in a line, affordable fishing tackle can be easily found. And, I know - that's because I'm cheap. I do though love to fish and there's nothing more rewarding for a cheapskate than getting a "free" fish dinner. Of course, "free" is in quotes for a reason. Fishing can become expensive very quickly!

I've been fishing the Chesapeake Bay for about 40 years now. My first excursions were with my father on a 24' Criss Craft cruiser. We'd head out at first light and throw chum for rockfish. That was when a bushel of clams to smoosh up cost, oh, about $12. Now, it's generally too expensive to chum so we live line - that's when we start off fishing for bait fish which can be as much fun as pulling in the rockfish or the bluefish.

I've searched and searched to find the best fishing tackle on the web just so that you don't have to shell out a fortune to start fishing. Wasn't that nice of me? Come along and see what I've found.

BTW: That beauty in the photo (not the man...) is a Bluefish from the Chesapeake Bay. It was caught in early July, 2012.
